Who we are

Fellowship Baptist Church began in 1952 meeting in a church member's home. Soon a property was purchased on Murray Ave which became our home for many years. The building was renovated and added to all while the gospel was preached. Gene Arnold was the founding pastor and our church saw tremendous growth during his time here. However, he became sick and retired in 1978, but he and his wife continued as members for 32 years until they passed away. James Johnson became our church's second pastor and was able to pay off the mortgage in 1980. Claude Dykes became the third pastor in 1991. Many improvements were made to the church building while remaining debt free, but more importantly, many people heard and accepted the gospel. Mike Ward became pastor in 1997. He continued the heritage of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Mark Manning became the pastor of our church in 2006. He led the church in renovating and updating the buildings. Then, in 2022, our church relocated to its new property on plantation road. We celebrated our first service in our new building on July 31st 2022, but much work in renovation was needed. Pastor Manning did a masterful job in leading us in this endeavor. God has truly blessed us with a beautiful place to worship and to declare His gospel for many years to come. Much of the work to renovate was done by the hard working members of our church knowing their labor would not be in vain. Pastor Manning had to resign in May of 2023 due to health issues. Peter Touchstone became our sixth pastor on October 22nd, 2023. Our church will celebrate 72 years this year, and we are looking forward to continuing to share the gospel in the "Star City" for as long as the Lord allows us to.
